The Home Strech
Looks like the R & S BBQ project is now in the home stretch. R & S #2’s site is being searched for, so once I finish this one, I’ll cruise up to Kenosha, WI, and do that job, take a week off, then start #2 I hope. Downside is right now I’m working 7 days a week – next weekend is Equifest, and I’ll be doing a video project there. So for a while, no days off. That’s ok, it helps my situation out. I’m to the point where I’m slowly paying on my debts, and advancing my ability to make more money (to pay off my debts faster.
One interesting tidbit was merging my R & S work with my workouts / weightloss. I use a Creatine supplement about 30 minutes before working out. Some days I don’t bother working out – I know I’ve pushed my muscles hard enough already at work. (It’s not uncommon for me to do something like build an 12 foot section of wall frame, stand it up, and attach it in place by myself. I’m insane about thinking pretty much anything is within my ability mentally or physically. And history tends to show I’m right.) It occured to me – why not just make a batch of creatine mix (it’s a powder you add to water and drink it), and use it while I’m working. OOOOOOHhhhh… that’s nice. Really nice. I’m going to try it for a week or two, and see what the longer term effect is. One downside – it causes your body to rip through protein like you wouldn’t believe. I’ve got to have a little something protein to eat every two hours or so. Easily solved, of course.
Hot or Not
I remember when Hot or Not first showed up and became a big deal ages ago. When I started hitting the dating sites, I noticed it had a dating component too (which was a kind of cool way of doing things, where both sides had to say they were interested before you could even communicate.) When I started looking at doing the movie thing and my self-improvement program, I thought it was time to do some ego based testing – how ugly am I anyway? Every two weeks or so, I throw up a new picture on there of me, and take the old one offline, and notice the results. I’ve been as high as an 8.0, and as low as a 4.7.
I had a theory – if I was going to appear on screen, I need to look good to people. A good way to test any changes I wanted to make was to, well, show people. But an abstract way of doing it was cool. The result was surprising – I assumed pictures of me when I was younger would rate higher than something from a month ago. Totally wrong. Aparently I’m considerably better looking than I was 5 or 6 years ago. WTF? 8.0 was from something a month old, 5.4 was from 5 years ago.
Well, um… guess I’m on the right track then! 🙂
Decisions, Decisions
So I made some odd decisions this week.
1) I’m going to be doing R & S BBQ’s for the next year (or until the owner runs out of money to build new ones.) I like what the extremely active work style is doing for me, both in mind and body. It’s a lot of fun, and how often do you get the chance to essentially get PAID to get in shape?
2) In 1 year, I’m going to buy the land out in the country, and build an extremely small house to start with. I’ll build what I really want later when I have sufficent cash, but, I need to start working towards that goal.
3) In 1 year, I’m going to complete 3 movie projects. Not sure WHICH three. I only have one full script (that’s being re-written) and one partial. I have some other thoughts, but no clue if we’re going to go that way with it.
And finally, have someone to share my life with. But I’m not going to stress out about the last one too much – if / when such a thing happens, well, it happens. Until then, fuggit, I keep moving on with the rest of my life goals 🙂
